A comparison and contrast essay can talk about only similarities, only differences, but extra often than not, both comparison and contrast are used. In comparison and contrast, transitions between paragraphs are essential to maintain your essay flowing easily, to build it understandable to the reader when you control from one topic to the other, and to specify the reasonable relationships between information within the paragraph.

Introduction
Hook your readers and grab your reader’s attention quickly with an interesting introduction. Begin with a mysterious statement, a funny story, or a question. Provide your readers with background information that will help them understand the two things you plan to compare. Introduce your subjects and explain whether you will compare them, contrast them, or both.

Body Paragraph
Organize your information using either the block, point by point, or similarities to differences strategy. There are two ways to organize the body of your compare and contrast essay:
Whole-to-whole or Block Strategy: In this structure, you say everything about one item than everything about the other.
The point-by-point Strategy: First compares or contrasts one point between the two subjects and then moves to the next point of comparison and contrast.

Conclusion
Restate your thesis and summarize the similarities and differences between the two topics. Restate the main idea of your essay, along with the support you have presented. Then try to finish up with a statement that leaves your readers with something to ponder.
