Writing a short, timed essay for the TOEFL is a much
different experiment than your normal in class essay. First, it is more
stressful because there is a lot at stake. Doing poorly can cost you time. Second,
since the time is so limited, you really need to be ready to roll when you walk
in. Here are some essay writing tips for the TOEFL.
Go in With a Plan
This is not the time to go with the flow! Before you ever
arrive for the test you need to know what to expect from the test and know your
own capabilities. Make a plan that fits your style. Having a plan means that
you know how you will approach the test. Plan your time. Understand the subject
or question carefully earlier than planning. Remain that thought in mind as you
write. If you are a obsessive who sits and thinks to obtain a large thought, survive
yourself!
Stay on Target
Once you’ve selected a topic and a preparation, don’t modify.
It is a small paper, and the ideas are not what is creature graded, so attach
with your plan no matter what happens.
Make Your Writing Concrete
You want the rater to find your writing clear and
understandable. Concrete writing is easier to understand than abstract writing.
If you writing is only abstract ideas or any generalized, any grammar and
organizational errors that you have will be magnified because the abstractions
become completely lost.
Write Your Thesis
Your thesis statement must address the aspects to be
discussed in the explanation, rather than give an view on the topic. The thesis
statement consists of subject and scheming thought. The controlling idea
identifies the capacity of argument in the body.
Editing
Editing should never be underestimated, so one should have
enough time to do it. Check for spelling mistakes, tenses, grammar, etc.
