All academic writing tends to revolve around an argument. As
with any other argument you will have a main claim and sub claims, you’ll need
to provide counter claims. Significance of the methodology chapter is to
explain how you obtained results. It should be informative, clear and precise.
Methodology is the systematic procedure you employ to achieve certain results. Steps of writing your dissertation methodology
are the followings.
Introduction
Reintroduce the thesis statement and raise the research
questions justified in the literature review. The dissertation methodology
classically follows your literature review; it is helpful briefly to summarize
the central research questions of your dissertation.
Conceptual design
Restate the significance of your research project and define
any technical term that will be used in the research project. Do not list
definitions as points. Highlight some of the ideas and issues the research will
address.
Methods
Explain how the instruments used were effective in data
collection and analysis and justify the method used. Explain the validity and
reliability of the tools used in your research. If translation to other
languages were carried out, explain why it was necessary.
How was data collected
Explain how you collected your data, challenges encountered,
how you dealt with them, and prove that they did not compromise the research
findings.
Significance and limitation
Restate the importance of the research and the beneficiaries
of the research, and state the limitations of the research.
Proposed data analysis
Show the analysis conducted on specific attributes, the
sequence, and how the analysis relates to other researches done, prior to your
research.
Precedence
Think about whether your methodology is distinctive of similar
research projects contained by your exacting subject area.
Justification
It is completely necessary that you give sound reasons for
the methods your have selected to behavior your research. This feature is
chiefly significant when adopting a narrative or substandard methodology.
