Writing an essay may be a
challenging mission, but sometimes guidance and preparation can help you get it
done. First, you learn the purpose of an
essay; it is to present an argument on a particular topic. You are arguing your
point of view on the topic. Essays are mainly divided into three parts; there
are introduction, body, and conclusion. Here some guidelines for beginners towrite their essay.
Decide the Topic
Decide what topic you’ll be
focusing on. Ask yourself if you want the topic to be a general overview or a
major analysis.
Introduction
In the introduction, you must
tell the reader what your essay topic is all about. And what stance or argument
you will be taking. Your introduction should be engaging and must show the
focus of the essay. Give him a thought where you’re heading without overlapping
the information you present in the body of the essay.
Body Paragraph
In the body paragraph, you
explain, argue and describe the main ideas on your topic. Set out the body
section so that you have one main idea per body paragraph. First sentence state
what the main idea is and how it relates to the essay question. Make sure you
not only provide supporting points but also address any limitations to your
argument. In the last sentence summarise and connect the idea back to your
arguments.
Conclusion
The conclusion closes your essay
by providing a brief summary of what is discussed in the essay above. Review
the main points. Describe your final opinion on the topic and argument.
Proofread
Make sure you review your work to
check for any grammatical and spelling mistakes. A good way to do this is to
read your essay out as a whole to see if it all makes sense and flows
correctly.
